57 Individuals with Down Syndrome Receive Specialized Eye Care in Kathmandu
In a significant move towards inclusive healthcare, the Down Syndrome Association of Nepal (DSAN), in partnership with the renowned Nepal Eye Hospital in Tripureshwor, successfully organized a specialized “Eye Camp” for individuals with Down syndrome.
The two-day event took place on February 7, 2026 AD/Margh 24, 2082 BS, and February 14, 2026 AD/Falgun 2, 2082 BS at the Nepal Eye Hospital in Tripureshwor. It provided comprehensive eye care services to 57 participants with Down syndrome, ranging from infants as young as 1 year old to adults aged 46.
Specialized Medical Team
The camp was overseen by a team of expert ophthalmologists, including Prof. Dr. Raju Kaiti and Dr. Manish Dahal. Together with their dedicated medical staff, the doctors focused on addressing the unique eye care needs of individuals with Down syndrome, who are more susceptible to vision-related issues.
